all the vf's are front entry so you'd need to convert it, vf43 is a good turbo

OEM Rods were not very good for the classic. Both WRX and STi used the same rods but with differing pistons.

Have a search on here for classic rod problems running higher BHP/ torque.

Most Blocks will run 300 plus BHP happily, semi CDB's 400 and a bit , CDB's a good deal more

your block is good for a lot of power, but as above the rest of it will struggle, your pistons and rods will quite likely die at those levels, plus you will need other bits at 400bhp, injectors, ecu and intercooler for a start. From your starting point 400bhp is an expensive trip, low 300's is about as far as you want to go

I wouldnt just be worrying about the rods if you are planning on going bigger than a 16g. Your 'box if its still the standard TY752's wont like your new found power/torque too much either. Especially if you are doing standing 1/4's

I'm running a billet 18g and it pulls like ****. Currently putting out 395hp

Sorry should of stated im already over 300bhp
i have all mods fitted/lined up ready to go on to see up to 400.
other parts needed are ecu as my power fc died, and turbo

as for box im currently on the look for for a ty754 to replace mine.

i really thought my engine would take me close to 380-400 proper bummend out now starting to thinkwhat to do now.

Right, forget about cdb etc, thats the block, it has nothing to do with what the engine can do, which with an 18 year old car isnt much, the engine on your car is one of the weakest that subaru did, running much over 330bhp will risk engine failure, running 380 will just leave you a nice big hole in your block
If you want the next stage, sell your car, with the extra money that you would be throwing at it, get yourself a bug sti, straightaway your already leagues ahead, everything is better than your 93 wrx there, and you have not wasted your money
400bhp = easy on one of these for not much cash, a good, well maintained example will run that all day, or you could throw 10k at your classic, in which case you could have done much more with the sti.

Tony

ps ty754 boxes are not much stronger than the ty752 boxes, those running 420bhp (torque kills them btw) are very few, most run 300lbs of torque and they start to break, some break at 250lbs, some less than that, most die over 350lbs, its just pot luck.

What turbo do you recomend for this? i know the td05 will do it but whats the best in spool and holding boost for this level?

Im currently ruining -
Fmic,
3in system,
Aeromotive fuel reg,
walbro,
Hks filter,
ported headers,
currently a chipped ecu as i had mentioned my power fc has died!

am i right in just saying i need to refit my 440s and new ecu remapped by jgm??

Nothing wrong with the TD05, tough critter, reasonable spool up and good flow.

You must have been runing around 380/380?
Did gear went bang when drag racing?
