Remapping a 2004 WRX STI
hi guys,
looking to buy an 04 plate 2.0 WRX STi with 265bhp as standard. Looking to remap very shortly after getting it... looking at the likes of Andy Forrest for the actual remap.
I know I need an uprated fuel pump and performance panel filter which don't cost much, but exactly what do i need exhaust wise and what is the cheapest way of doing it? I dont mind buying an exhaust section or two but dont want to spend hundreds! I also don't fancy driving a car around with no cat and having to change it at MOT time. And if i didn't bother getting a different exhaust and just got the filter/fuel pump what sort of gains would i actually get?
Cheers for any tips from those of you who have done it already!

Remap with pump and filter should net you around 300 fairly easily. The more you do to decat the car the easier the power comes and quicker the turbo spools.
The Prodrive pack on this year would be a cat back system I think, with an upgraded intercooler pipe and pump.
Hope this helps,
Graham

Justin, I just got my 05sti mapped after fitting a prodrive down pipe, walbro, K&N filter and plugs. Very happy with the results going to get it checked on a RR but it's around the 330bhp Mark and a lot more responsive. Mpg's seem unaffected

standard sti will have 2 cats in it in the first 2 parts of the exhaust. The PPP set up is Sports cat - decat pipe - standard centre section - prodrive back box so for max gains you'll need to replicate this, or go for full decat.
Systems often come up in the classifieds so keep your eyes peeled for a good one
