Hi there if you are taking car to 450bhp,yes 3" will be wise and good option, but i would recommend go for known maker of Exhaust such as Cobra Exhaust UK,Miltek or Hayward&Scott.
But if you are leave OEM standard downpipe with act,you will be still restricted by downpipe, best bet is 3" sport cat from Cobra Exhaust UK(£250) if you don't want fail MOT.
From this you have fitted, you will get possibly gain(bhp/torque) depends on mapper, but definitely you will see increase(maybe small but yes),but this again depend what you have fitted(turbo etc)
Exhaust is one from more thing which you will need get close to 450bhp,you will need FMIC,650cc injectors at least and turbo, which out is more from SC46 to MD321T

Thanks for that, what would be the difference between sports cat downpipe and a 3" de-cat downpipe, but sounds good not having to change it every year.
I was planning on replacing the injectors, fuel pump & turbo plus the exhaust and another remap to get to 450 mark, would I need a FMIC if it was only a road car and not being tracked
Thanks Robert

Sport Cat will allow you pass MOT,difference is small but is it,on some cars is no difference
Yes 3"Dectaed downpipe will be better option, but you will not pass MOT,swapping every year is nothing hard,if you know good garage in your area.
Yes injector, you will need at least 650cc,fuel pump, your will be OK,but depends on your budget(you have all ready fitted Walbro fuel pump),about the turbo SC46 is great and have good review here, but MD321T(this turbo is rated to 450bhp) you will find sometimes used and still for good money(my friend brought T for £700)
