Default Upgrade path on an 04 wrx ppp

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts on the best upgrade path for my blob eye wrx ppp. Have not really driven it much for the past year but want to spend a bit of money on it and get some extra ooomph out of it. I have had it for over 3 years without it missing a heartbeat.

I have been looking at various packages on greenwood, scoobyclinic and power engineering but the next jump up seems a bit costly.

Am I best to bolt on some sensilby picked items like a new exaust system , upgraded turbo and get a remap or just bite the bullet and spend the cash. I know a wrx isnt reliably going to go beyond 340-350 before it goes pop but just want some excitement out of my flying machine before I trade it in for something newer next year.

Pointers, advice, abuse all welcome.

Cheers

Hi there
really best bet if you are buying all parts and get them fit by Subaru Independent Specialist(at Dealer will be very costly)

If you want go towards to 340-350,you will need these parts

VF30,VF34 or VF35(prices for used one are around £250-£450),STi pink(£160),Walbro Pump(£70)3 port Boost solenoid(£60),STi TMIC(£150-£250) and i will advise get uprated pads and disc also and later just remap(open source around £225-£350 or EcuTek for around £550)

Thanks for the info Jura.

I will see what I can get my hands on. Maybe from here rather than fleebay.

I will probably run something like godspeed discs and predator fast track pads for stopping as I did before. I only go to the the ring or do some late night blasts and they seem to stop me without fading or warping.

Any good mappers around the south east. Whereabouts are you based.
Im based in Potters Bar but willing to travel.

Hi there

really depend where are you find good deal,i've found some good deal on eBay and also here, just try and have look here in For Sale section.

Godspeed discs are OK,but i will try at least EBC RedStuff or BlueStuff NDX,i've run Bluestuff NDX with my 350bhp WRX wagon without the problems, really recommended.

I'm using only Slowboy Racing,he doing all job on my car,now building 2.1 stroker with some addons,he's great and honest guy with perfect prices like for servicing or mapping and really good mapper,he's based near Brands Hatch.

What about just sticking a full decat on the car and uprate the fuel pump and stick in a panel filter in with a remap (Duncan) you should see about 285bhp this is a huge improvement over Prodrive as you will currently be putting out around 240bhp ish

I've done exactly the same as you, Mate. Kept my WRX PPP standard until warranty expired. Spent some cash on DBA discs, pads, braided hoses and DOT 5.1. Then Whiteline 24mm ARB at the rear with solid droplinks. Lowered with Eibach springs and a fast road geometry setup, solid front ARB bushes to finish off. Power wise I initially went for a Milltek 3" decatted system, Walbro fuel pump and remap. Around 18months later I went for a VF35, STI pinks, replaced the up pipe with a decatted and wrapped one and a remap from Zen with a K & N panel filter to finish off. Still running the standard intercooler and recently saw 312.1 bhp on rolling road. I don't want to change it now!!

Thanks for the info I might just try a new exhaust system, uprated fuel pump and a remap. Could be the best bang for my buck.

Any opinions on the best exhaust system to use. I want to stay legal so would want to run a high flow sports cat in there. I dont mind loud but I dont want to **** the neihbours off when I roll in from work at 2am.

Cheers.

Hi there
probably cheapest option for you get as you are suggest new exhaust,Walbro fuel Pump,OS remap(from £225-£350) and i would recommend also 3 port boost solenoid, decated up pipe.

And best exhaust, you have several option like Cobra,Miltek(ask Alyn@AS Performance, great deals on Miltek),Revolution exhaust which Track day friendly or Hayward&Scott
