Default Amateur needs help - High idle GC8 V5

Hi

I have had a extremely high idle on my impreza (between 2.5K and 3K) for the last 2 months as i havent drove the car , after doing some investigation on scoobynet i have done the following

1.Sprayed around with brake cleaner to see if there was any air leaks anywhere - No
2. checked all hoses to see for splits - No
3. Checked and cleaned IACV - done - no difference
4. So what i then did is i blocked the idle air pipe that goes to the IACV and this makes no difference.
5 Finally this is where i got a difference

I took off the pipe that goes to the FMIC off the throttle body and inspected the TB , it looks shut BUT if i put my hand over the throttle body it is still sucking in ( even though it looks shut) and when i put my hand completely over it the idle settles down to how it should be and the IACV then start sucking in air for the idle. Please note that the throttle cable has been checked and its fine

Am i to presume that i have a faulty throttle body and will this cure it if i buy a new one as i want to be sure that i am not looking in the wrong direction.

Any help for a long drawn out problem would be finally appreciated.

Thanks

There is a throttle stop screw (at least on a V1 GC8), have you tried adjusting that as well? You said the throttle cable was checked, did this include disconnecting it from the throttle linkage as well to rule it out?

as far as i am aware there is no such screw on the v4 that i can locate unless some one can point me in the right direction? and also i have not disconnected it from the throttle linkage as there seems to be no play in it at all? is it something you would recommend???

i had the same problem on my my99, I'd cleaned out the IACV and inside the throttle body and got the same symptoms, I ended up adjusting the throttle stop screw. It's located underneath on the left as you look at it, it has a lock nut on it and you'll need a small thin screwdriver.
