Help! Annoying rubbing/binding noise from cold
Every morning when I reverse out of the drive I get a loudish rubbing/binding noise that appears to be coming from the rear. As soon as I stop, put it into first and drive away it goes. Do not get a repeat of it for the rest of the day, but lo and behold the following morning it happens again!
I have had the front brakes checked and pads replaced and I have also had a full rear brake strip down and clean including the handbrake drums but it still hasn't cured it. Anyone got any bright ideas as it is driving me nuts!!?? - Wheel bearings? Driveshaft? Diff?

Try parking without using your handbrake at all. Just leave the car in gear to stop it rolling anywhere. That'll tell you whether it's the handbrake.

Right, parked up last night in gear with no handbrake on.
Reversed out of the drive this morning got the same noise in reverse. Drove down the street fine no noise, got to the bottom put it into reverse and went back again slowly and noise reappeared.
Drove 5 miles/10 mins to work and when got there reversed into parking space - no problems and no noise!
So it doesnt appear to be the handbrake and only seems to be in reverse and when the car is relatively cold. The noise definitely seems to be coming from the rear - could it be a problem with the rear diff and why would it only happen in reverse?
Any further advice/assistance appreciated as it is driving me nuts!

It is going to be the handbrake shoes. They are close to the rims inside the drums, and will actually be touching. Drive far enough, they either move out a bit or wear off the high spots.
If you are really worried, get it to a garage, get them to put it on a ramp and have a listen.

Thanks for the advice
The annoying thing is I had it down at Richard Henrys a few weeks back when it first started for a rear brake strip down and clean and they said everything was fine so I will take it back.
I presume the handbrake shoes can be simply adjusted off?
