Default TURBO UPGRADE FOR UK VERSION 2

Hey there people wondering if you could shed a bit of light?? When ive got some spare brass i would like to upgrade the turbo on my96 UK turbo impreza for maybe a roller bearing turbo, or something that spools quick (open to suggestions) but upon doing this mod is there anything else i need to do or is it just a case of unbolt old turbo and replace with new one?

Thankis in advance

Steve

if your car is the pre facelift then it will already have a tdo5 on it which is a more than capable turbo, if its the later face lifted car then it will have the tdo4 turbo, either way if you change it you to get it remapped to get the most out of it and to make sure its safe.

its should have the tdo5 on it although it may of been changed at some point for a tdo4 by someone who didn't know what they were doing.

No idea what a v2 uk car is, they never made any v2 uk cars, for these its just model year (MY) and model (turbo 2000) as it gets confusing otherwise

So you have an MY96 (phase 1 engine) with a td04 and you want a better spooling turbo? which tbh is hard to do as a td04 spools up like lightening, so either its not mapped for that car (really bad idea, kills engines) or its a td05 still.
Go have a look in the morning on the plate on the turbo, we have to know exactly what has been done with the car or even better, go to a speciallist and they can inspect the car to see how its running/chipped etc

The vf series turbo is a better range than td but you would require a remap to suit say a 28/34/35 vf turbo.

their generally higher spec units than the Td ones. The vf28 in my sti made 319bhp on a totally stock exhaust.

Had 334 bhp out of my last vf28 sti on a sports exhaust.

Just thought it was another option rather than sticking to more basic td04s or 5s
