Default Air filter in wing -- rain? anything to cover it?

hi

i was just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction of getting one of those sock things for your air filter when it's raining so the filter doesnt get wet, yet still flows?

ive just trial fitted a rcm filter on the end of my hdi cold air intake and i can get it to fit in the wing but right up front in line with the bumper. only fits with the removal of the fog light cover so thought i should look at something just in case it rains..

when i go syvecs i'll be able to run it in the engine bay without maf, but quite like nthe look of it here lol, just need an elbow made to get the angle right.

so is there a rain cover you can get for air filters? my mate was telling me about one, didnt kniw they existed tbh.

any help would be much appreciated.

cheers

Eddy

Yeah eggy, I need to get one too.

Since having a FMIC and naked cone, etc. fitted, when in heavy rain, the car hesitates until the engine gets up to temp and the water on the filter evaporates away.

Gonna have a butchers online now...

I had an induction kit fitted in my inner wing when I bought my car (05 JDM STI) but at the time there was lots of rain and flooded roads where I live so I reverted back to standard airbox and K+N filter. I also found that the car ran better using the original Subaru airbox. Steve.

Yeah, do they stop the filter from 'choking' (after it's rained heavily and your car's been left out in it)? Or are they just a gimmick?

Thanks,

You can get this thing from the Pharmacy which you can put over your filter, but you may have to mod it by putting little holes in it.

we need this filter sock from opie oils (one of the cheapest)

judging off these dimensions on k and n's site for this sock, it seems to be the correct one for this filter size.

I'd seriously worry about the possibility of water ingress. Get it in the dry mate!

it'll be moving into the engine bay as soon as its mapped without the maf sensor.. just for the next 3 weeks it'll stay in the wing.
