Default Classic wagon popping

Hi all, I wonder if anyone can shed any light on the problem i have with my 94 classic turbo wagon. The problem is when i floor it say in second gear it holds back really bad and lets out a loud pop and dumps a cloud of smoke behind me if i ease it through the revs it pulls like a train. I have checked for air leaks and cant find anything obvious. Please help as it's doing my nut in!

Have you changed or fitted anything to it recently?

It does sound like an air leak to me.

Damp electrics? Loose connection on the ignition?

This is what i thought but i've stripped everything off and cant find any leak tbh. i'm thinking it could be overboosting or possible faulty actuator but i'm unsure and i dont want to keep throwing money at it and not resolving the problem.

I did change one of the coil packs as when i changed the plugs one of them was really black and sooty so i thought it was that coil pack that was breaking down but it made no difference tbh maybe i should change the other 3 and see if it rectifies the problem. cheers for the reply

I just need to locate a decent/genuine tuner near to me (Kent) then maybe i can go down this route plus funds are a bit short at the moment so i'm trying to fix it as cheaply as i can

if there's any members on here near you with spare coil packs they could let you borrow, you could change the other 3 n see if that fixes it
