Default Fuel smell when turning off

2001 Bugeye - standard

Hi, after smelling petrol in my car I did a search and found out about the usual problems with bugeye models and the fuel pipes below the inlet manifold. I have read the symptoms and as I do sometimes get a whiff when starting the car I have noticed that there is a smell of petrol when I let the car settle before turning off.
I couldn't find any mention of this in other posts so I was hoping someone might have experienced this and let me know if it's related to the usual problem.

Thanks, Ian.

Did this every get cleared up? was it associated to a dump valve being fitted?

Did it go away with the Subaru re-circ valve being fitted back?
