Default Turbo removal and refitting???

Any pointers - did a bit of a search but not much pops up.I know that I will need to soak all the nuts etc.I have spare bolts and lock nuts, gasket etc.Was wondering what to do with the oil and water feeds?? hose clamps? mole grips? Not done one before and dont really want to drain everything if I can help it?Any pointers would be appreciated.Cheers.

What I did, was to soak nuts/bolts. Remove intercooler, and other pipes connected.
You don't have to worry about oil and water, there isn't much that comes out, few drips, as there isnt any pressure.
Take your time and don't rush it. Undo nuts, and either get something to push away the down pipe. Next is the up pipe nuts. undo oil/water pipes. and remove. Do in reverse to put back on making sure everything is clean with new gaskets. If its off for sometime then a rag to put into up pipe so nothing goes down there. also pipe work.

Oh before I forget you might have a heat shield, mine didnt have one so thats why I had forgotten.

Other people may come along with a slightly different technique to me.

Hope that helps.

you will need a breaker bar if the turbo has never come off as the nuts can be tough to undo. Also getting the oil drain pipe can be abit of a pain so either WD40 the pipe so it slides in or just replace it with a slightly long one.

Thanks guys! Much appreciated as always!
I have all the bits I need and have a breaker bar handy - its the uppipe that has never been separated from the turbo- since Ive had it anyway.
Hopng for no rain or fog on Sat as it really is time the new turbo went on - the current one is making boost but is oscillating like a git and it doesnt sound pleasant.
Gonna relocate the o2 sensor to the downpipe at the same time too.

Replace the stock oil hose spring clamps with some worm drive ones.
The hose itself hardens a bit, and you'll most likely have a leak there when fitting another turbo with the stock clamps (as the hose is hardened the spring clamps do not have enough clamping force left)

Mole grips or special hose clamps are handy for the coolant feed, as loosening this hose will probably lead to a minor leak, which is very irritating, because it drips right where you are working under the car (and everytime you touch it while fiddling with turbo, hose or clamp leads to you getting a splattering of coolant)

Good point - the spring clamps are crap at the best of times - I have a nice selection of jubilee clips (worm drives)! Im soooo praying for a reasonable day weatherwise!

Ok so.........
Downpipe and eveything off bar 1 fooked nut onto the up-pipe under the downpipe - **** - but......
The reason I started all this was that I thought the turbo was making some not right noises -now that I have all the bits off there seems to be no play in the shaft - no oil leakage and no real obvious probs with the turbo???
Could there be anything else that would make vibratey type sounds on low boost???? - comming from the rubo area??

Help - DOH!!

Could failing or crap gaskets around the downpipe cause vibration type noise at lo boost??
The noise comes in about 0.4 bar and then clears when boost goes over 0.5 bar.
I does sound like the turbo blades ar oscillating and catching the housing but there is no visual sign of that???

would be interested in finding your problem as my mate has similar one and it almost sounds like a trumpet as it starts coming on boost.

Reassembled everything still with the orig turbo on but replaced the downpipe gasket and nuts/bolts. took it out briefly last night and no more noise as yet bloody odd!!
Will keep posted as to any further discoveries!
