Default Cold start / fast idle speed?

Hi All,

MY04 WRX: recently noticed that on cold start, the fast idle is about 1500 rpm. When warm it drops to 700-800rpm, as expected.

Is this a normal idle speed for a cold start? it seem a bit high to me - in first when you let go of the throttle there's enough idle speed to pull the car along at a reasonable speed.

thanks
slip

mine has started doing the same thing, firstly I thought it was something to do with being really cold and icy and snowy, it would start normally and then after a minute or so it would run at 2000rpm for a few minutes then go back to normal. I've never noticed it before and it was like driving with the choke fully out

mine is a 93 1.6GL by the way (not a 1.6GL BTW )
