Default New actuator??

Hello all, just joined up, Picked up my new STI 55, Prodrive last night, interior is dirty as hell but bodywork is beautiful.

Its got a Typhoon induction on it also, and i think downpipe, the exhaust dont look prodrive either so i think its had the full system done, lad i bought it from is a mech and says he recons its pushing out 340-50bhp???????

He says the actuator could do with uprating as its went and the EML comes on only when its really cold though????? Im new to this and as you can see have no idea about these engines. Car runs perfect though just not sure what to do about this actuator?????

Hmmm if its fully decatted on the PPP ecu then its probably dying a slow death through det your best not pushing the car until its inspected by a speciallist or a mapper to see if its been remapped.

Agree with Tony, if the mod spec has been changed in anyway from the PPP spec but still running the PPP ECU it's not long before it dies mate! The induction kit certainly isn't a PPP piece of kit.

Drive OFF boost until it has been checked over by a mapper. This car will not be running 340bhp on the PPP map, you'll know when it is

If the Actuator has gone the car won't make or hold proper boost, does it have a boost gauge ?

Welcome to Snet buddy, wee bit different to the cutters board!

Cheers for the replys lads, No Stealth no boost gauge, If im honest i was a bit baffled as to what the guy i bought it from was talking about with regards to the impreza and mods turbo etc. As i say the guy was a mech and doubt the car has anything doubtful carried out on it, but ill send him an email and find out a bit more.

Meanwhile ill get it booked into the scoob specialist for a check up.

Good lad, just drive it easy for the time being untill the fault codes have been read from her.

Don't take the fact he is a mechanic as a sign that the car has been loved and everything done properly, not always the way chap, this would be a casing point if it is running a PPP map and an induction kit

A bit confused now, Got an email back about the STI and its running the PPP only? I thought if it was only running PPP then it would be 305bhp?????

He has a list of mods he has advised i carry out, which he says should bring it up to 400bhp, although no mention of a re-map or turbo??????? Starting to get a tad worried now.

If it is running jsut the PPP you will see around 305bhp but don't bank on it.

OK if there is no mention of a remap and turbo that car will NEVER make 400bhp, the turbo is only capable of 340/350bhp at the very best.

Copy up the mail he sent to you, and the spec of the car that was advertised whe nyou bought it mate.

I would just disregard everything this bloke tells you from now on
I am a mechanic myself but have only just recently bought my first Impreza and having not worked on one before, Had a lot to learn I've been to look at cars belonging to fellow mechanics not knowing I was also one and it's amazing the bull**** they try and feed you Were not all like that obviously but the one you mention does sound a bit iffy, Would just do as said and get it checked over mate

Cheers for the replys, The Pistonheads ad was removed very shortly after we done the deal so as far as what info was on there its now history. Here is a copy of the mail I received this morning.

sti is running the pro drive pack tuning only, everything else
was listed bud, emm if i was gonna up the car a would put perrn
performance fuel rails on it, light weight crack, renew the fuel pump,
maybe a snake head down pipe then a remap.at that should be 400 bhp

lol I now see he did mention a re-map Doh!! Still things don't seem to add up??????

OK as said before, totally disregard anything this ar53 clown has said or listed with regards to this car, he hasn't got a clue.

So, got get the car checked out, get the error codes checked and don't thrash it until that point, to be fair I wouldn't thrash it with the inductino kit on anyway until it's been mapped.

and no 400bhp won't be doable with a Downpipe, fuel rails and a fuel pump LOL

Called the Scoob specialist and he away till tomoz, so hope to get the car in this week, what mods do you guys recommend adding? Nothing too much as i cant spend too much on her at the moment, or just go for a remap????

Go straight for remap mate. Make sure it's running right. Looks like you had a monkey doing the car before. Make sure he hasn't used bananas for something.
