Default What standard boost?

Just removed bleed valve and put restrictor pill back in the vacuum hose from turbo to t-piece, now I'm running 10psi and i could of swore it used to be 13-14 psi before I used the bleed valve. My car is Uk classic x plate turbo 2000.

Thanks

Pretty sure a UK car runs 0.8 as standard, the sti's run 1.1 bar which is just over 14psi.

I think it's bang on isn't it?

The UK MY99/00 cars, because they run only 215bhp as std, will have a lower boost target than even the early JDM 237bhp WRX's 0.79bar! I'm petty sure the UK car IS 10psi/0.69bar??

The bleed valve was prob put on by a previous owner for the very reason to up the power - hence it being set to run 13-14psi (<=0.95bar). So now that it's been removed, hence the restored OEM boost target of 10psi/0.69bar (as dictated by the ECU's map/restrictor pill combo).

All is normal IMHO.

No seriously I'm sure it was 13-14 psi, at 10 it doesn't feel anywhere near
215bhp! Put bleed valve back on and set it to 15psi and feels right, I found on a forum earlier that it should be 13.6 psi on mine!

Really? Yeah I think I'm being a bit conservative with my figures, then.

Hope you sort it to your delectation...

Hey bigf, I think thye MY99/00's 2-port requires a pill with a smaller hole. This would make sense as the 1.2mm will cause the 2-port BCS to under boost, as it allows too much air through too quickly to crack the wastegate open. If you fit the a smaller holed one, the air will be restricted more, thus hopefully getting you to the 14psi target (i.e. w/g remains shut for longer).

Try experimenting with progressively smaller holes i.e. 1.1, 1.0, 0.9 (can't remember what it is) ...

(NOTE: I think the 1.2mm one was fitted to the MY93-96 3-port BCS, where that BCS works in a 'bled air' fashion i.e. the bigger the pill's hole, the more air bleeds away from the w/g, thus higher boost.)

But, alternatively, I could be talking horse****.... Again!
