Default Which fuel pump?

Im nearly ready to get a few bits fitted to my94 wrx and then have it remapped.Im not sure which fuel pump to buy?Im going to be aimming for around 500bhp by the end of the year.

I know the bosch will do the job with no problems but its over twice the price off a walbro 255?

Whats the max power i could run the walbro with 800cc injectors?

Thanks for any advice!

500hp should be easy & plenty of headroom.

Wouldnt think your mapper would be happy with a walbro at 500bhp, single 044 will be getting close.

I ran my walbro to 460bhp - but it is a little risky. A single bosch 044 will do it

Are you intending sticking at 500 or developing the car more. If your sticking at 500bhp as Duncan says the 044 will be fine if you are looking at going beyond that it may be worth looking at two bosch 909's which will build in redundancy and the cost of two 909's is not much more than a single 044.
Another factor you need to consider is the current draw of the pump and the standard wiring. The walbro 255Lt pump will use a max current of around 9 amps which the standard wiring will cope with. If you go to a 044 the max current draw is 15.5 amps which you may well see at full boost. When I went to a 044 I rewired the pump power feed with larger gauge wire to cope with the extra current. The max current of a 909 is 10 Amps but if you are running two you are unlikely to see max current draw unless you up the power and fuel requirements. So in reality you will prob see a similar max current from the two 909's as you will with a single 044.
Just food for thought

I was recommended a Bosch 040 by Andy Forrest. I am currently running 530bhp on just that pump without any problem at all. They are cheaper than the 044 and fit in the tank.

Cheers for all the advise.

It has given me something to think about.Im going to go for a single 044 as that will do the job just fine.I will be getting enginetuner to fit it for me aswell as a few other bits,so i dont have to worry about the wiring ect.

That sounds like a better option than the 044.Are you using the standard wiring?

Also where is the best place to order one from?

A 040 flows about half what a 044 does.

The best thing you can do is ask your mapper what he recommends after all he is the one who will have to set the base pressure and the fueling for the car.
