The larger is the air idle and you cannot 'get rid' of it, just try pulling it off with the engine running. The smaller one is the bleed from the BCS and can be left to VTA. Ideally though, you DO need it plumbed in as you will be losing metered air.
You need to do a proper res and MAF delete, and it will also be a good time to fit a catch can. Your looking at some thing like this:

Yeah, from the MAF, it consists of 1x 80mm to 70mm elbow, a 70mm alloy joiner with a 19mm take off and 1x 70mm to 60mm elbow . You need to trim the elbows legs to get the right fitment and it was also useful to do the catch can at the same time to avoid tapping into the elbow.

RCM do the pipe but it ain't cheap and you still have the res box fitted.

And Apexi do a delete pipe for the box, they do pop up used from time to time, but the only way to get one new is to buy the Power Intake kit @£150, so also a bit steep for a delete pipe.

So in total will cost you c.£300

The catch can set up and delete cost me under £100.

I bought the 2 silicon elbows and a joiner from ebay, then chopped it all to fit myself Matt.
