Default Oil Pressure Sensor

Where is it that the sensor for my oil pressure gauge is supposed to go?

Under the alternator there is a sensor already there, it can replace that, or you can get an adapter to use boths, so the OE sensor warning light still works.

What sort of gauge?
Only SOME sensors fit that position WITHOUT an adaptor.

I've already got the gauge fitted, but don't think its in the right place as the warning light goes off when key turned to aux

Where is it fitted?

My warning lights ONLY come on when I go to TWO clicks on the ignition.

the one under the alternator is the oil temp i belive not the presure.. you can either use a sandwich plate or the adapter goes in a bung above 3rd cylinder i belive which is under the intercooler (TMIC) and you will ideally need a crowsfoot spanner to do the adapter up and an alan key socket set to remove the bung.

The oil pressure sensor is under the alternator. You can use the OEM and an aftermarket sensor with an adapter.

For the oil temp you can use a bung which replaces the oil gallery plug on top of cylinder nr 3 or use an adapter ring between you modine and filter.

Wrong way round.

Oil Temp - under intercooler
Pressure - under alternator

The gauge is prosport stepper gauges and I don't know where its fitted at the moment as I didn't fit them and I don't know what I'm looking for... When switched on to aux, all warning sounds come on, then just the oil pressure stays on as if oil pressure is too low

Does the warning go off once the ignition is on and the car is idling?

At aux there is no oil pressure......

There is also a place to fit behind the power steering pump.

Is it in the same place as per the 11th pic here?

So where is the optimal place for accurate readings?

Practically, as above...

Tee the OE sender with the aftermarket one in an adapter as per the fitting guide in the link above. It goes in the galley underneath/behind the alternator.

As above, the optimal place is where the OE switch is. That's why Subaru put it there

All the warnings will go out when you switch on EXCEPT the oil PRESSURE as it's warning you that the pressure is too low: in effect, without the engine, no pressure at all.

On startup, the gauge should read 6-7 bar cold, 4 bar hot, and the warning should go off.
