Default Redex?

I put some fresh oil in yesterday and redex in the fuel and since my car has started bogging down every now and then?

The check engine light came on very briefly and has not showed since. Could it be dooing this simply through red ex doing its job and cleaning crap off the injectors causing temporarily blockages or is this something more serious. Not good because im about to put her up for sale.

Car is a 94 wrx sti ver1.

Thanks guys

Only had quarter of a tank when it was put in so when it started doing it, i went and filled up. Drove about last night for a bit to see if it changed, used half a tank and its still doing it but only every now and then. Runs sweet on tick over.

Check on the bottle, if you still have it, because your car will not like it if you,ve put too much in it.

Its more likely to be the fuel you put in than the redex, especially one of those small bottles.

I had those exact symptoms in my old car, not a scoob, after some divvy at a petrol station put too much redex in mine.

It was back to its old self when I filled up again.

Dont have the bottle, was only a little 3.99 one. Is tesco 99 not a good idea with these things then? Seemed ok on it before unless its a bit too rich with red ex and that stuff in.

Tesco 99 will be fine. But you're only supposed to put a bit in per tank. Used to be 2 shots.

I'll do a search and see if I can find out more.

think half a bottle treats a full tank on scoobies. Pretty sure I used less than half a bottle when I used some in my last car!

I think he's put in a whole bottle instead of half. Not the end of the world. I'd drive it carefully, off boost until i'd filled up a few times.

If you can go and fill it up now.

Ah yeh 1/4 tank to a full bottle would over dose it a bit. Fill her up to dilute it down, or drive it steady till theres not much left then put a decent ammount of petrol in

250 ml of redex in half a tank of fuel will do no harm to your car ,Redex recommends that 250 ml will treat 50 ltrs of fuel, and i personally have added 500 ml into a 1/3 of a tank and took the car for a 10 mile blast , the only thing it did to my legacy gtb was bring the emissions down and allow the car to pass the mot after it had failed on the 1st run. I have been using this stuff periodically for over 20 years and i believe when we use to have 4 star petrol many years ago it use to be available free at petrol stations. I have used it in my last 2 uk turbo's and no problems at all,and when tesco were selling 250 ml of redex for 45p a few months ago,i bought 20 bottles and have 12 left.

Ive used redex in lots of cars, yes more than the recommended dosage sometimes too (like the ford mondeo that was a sluggish heap until I put a bottle in ) and also in the scoob, no issues.
Now its down to the fact that you and the OP both filled up, which means it can be the fuel, very doubtful its the redex tbh considering your fuel has aload of detergents in there anyway

I agree 100% with tony on the above ,i have used it in xr2's,xr3's,xr4x4's,astra gte's 16v,309 gti, sierra cosworths ,mg turbo's,rover 220 turbo's,plus many other cars i have owned. Both in turbo & naturally aspirated cars, redex NEVER caused me any issues at all, if anything in the n/a cars car felt a touch more responsive
