Default Radiator leak?

Hi all, I need some help and advice. I have a 1999 Turbo 2000 and never let me down in the 3.5 years I have had it. Noticed some steam coming out of the bonnet and looked in the coolant cap on top of the engine and found no coolant in it! Can't find where loss is coming from. Could the radiator have gone or a big hole somewhere. Car has obviously not been driven since. Last time I checked fluids was last weekend. Any help be appreciated. Thanks

Sorry for the hijack, my car done exactly the same 3 days ago, I tried leaving the heaters on full whack, no steam. Turned the heat down, and loads of steam appearing to come from the radiator area.

Ive had the thermostat, water pump and hoses checked and they all seem fine.

Your thermostat may have frozen or got stuck. The mechanic reckons thats what happened to mine.

Hope this might help.

Your best bet mate is to fill her up and run it up and see if you can see any obvious leaks, preferably on dry surface as it make's life easier lol.
It could be one of many places mate so unless you feel confident with it then go to a garage where they cam pressurize the system with a pressure tester to find the leak

I would hope it didn't get frozen as that would mean you had insufficient amounts of anti-freeze mate but stats can get stuck closed.

I think the mix was too weak, as it it -16 the other night. Probably my fault, so now Ive got to get a new radiator, and anything else she needs.

mine has started leaking for the second time in 2 years, the first time the radiator split on the plastic moulding that the radiator is mounted in to, if you are looking into the bay at the left hand side of the rad down near the drain plug so picked up a new one. This time it seems to be comming from where the plastic meets the rad on the same side, i cant remember where i got the rad so cant get it changed on waranty. bit pissed off really shall i just get a all alloy rad 2nd hand or stick with std replacement?
