Default 18G on std'ish engine

As above, I have a version 5 STI Type R which has a 3inch decat exhaust system, zero sports intecooler spliter and apexi PFC. Will the car still be driveable with an 18G if it's mapped on the the STD injectors? Obviously I will be fitting a FMIC and injectors when funds allow. What sort if power can I expect with the TMIC?

Cheers

As standard you have 440cc injectors so they are good for 350ish bhp so they wouldn't limit you any mate neither would the TMIC below thoses levels[although better results would be attained with FMIC],but i'd say you'd see around 300 just over with a good mapper

I think TD05-18G is good compromise between TD05-16G and TD05-20G,on some cars make 350BHP-360BHP.
From TMIC i recon something between 310-320BHP,but this will depend on size of STD injectors and which TMIC(if is from new age WRX,this will be maxed at 310-320BHP)

If 320bhp is 'maxed' out then you may as well stick with the 16g as they are good for that all day long. Spend your cash on something else.

depends if u buy a cheap ebay 1 ur lookin 300 under or one from andy or harvey, ur lookin at 340 bhp ish as long as u got uprated fuel pump which only costs £60 and a fuel pressure reg which is another £60 ish so not much cost more then just the turbo

The question should be....

How much power do you want to make and can your funds allow it?

It's currently on a std VF28 and running 290bhp. My goal when funds allow is somewhere between 380-400 give or take. Would a HS380 be a better bet than the 18g? Would I manage 350ish with the HS380?

Hi there with HS380 you cannot see 400BHP,with MD321H you see 400BHP and spooling much quicker than TD05-20G(with good one,not eBay copies),which make 380-400BHP
Or you can have look for SC46

With TD05-18G you never see 380BHP without methanol add-on,with std(and genuine) TD05-18G you will see 350BHP-360BHP(maybe little more)as above prodriverules say

380BHP is domain of 20G's not 18G's.I want see std 18G make 380BHP without methanol or ported wastegate etc.
Normally from 18G's you are be happy with 350-360BHP or little bit more

There are plenty of cars out there making 380 on an 18g and plenty of cars making 400 on a 20G as there is many making 400 on a 321 variant H or T.

There are also plenty that dont, its not always the turbo that is the issue there are other factors. If you would be happy with 350 from an 18g thats fine. My Harvey 20G made 406 on 97 ron and 3ml per litre NF on a newage.

Got greedy and wanted more so now on a 321T

Agreed, with some 20G's is possible make 400BHP,i've seen on some application/cars making 400BHP-410BHP just on fuel. And also agreed with other factors,if you engine no making power, somewhere is other issue(but in most cases is not mapper, but engine)
GT30 or 321T/V is my next on my list, but after engine rebuild....
