Default front mount intercooler....

hi guys im new to fi motors and have a fmic question. what advantages would fitting a fmic to my classic wagon? is there a noticable difference once fitting one? and finally what are the differences between say a full kit for £200 on ebay and a £600 kit from certain tuning sites?

thanx in advance, graham

If your on a later spec classic running a Td04 then you won't need a FMIC until you fit a larger turbo and running over 350bhp give or take.
As for the eBay FMIC's your best staying away, your probably best going for a Hybrid(brand) kits from one of the reputable tuners, as and when required

No matter what people say a fmic is a good upgrade as cooler intake temps, and is about the same cost as upgrading to a newage topmount, i bought my one from Harvey on here Hybrid GT2 for my MY99

Harvey Smith is the man to speak/buy your fmic Hybrid gt2. These cars suffer from heatsoak and you'd need a remap after fitting it, you dont say what year your classic is as some cant be mapped, you'll not get a great power hike just fittin a fmic but you'll defo give the engine a better chance of survival while driving hard. Some people say that you get a lot more lag with a fmic, but if your still running quite a small turbo you dont notice it, i noticed it a wee bit more once i fitted the 20g.

If you DO put on an FMIC, you will need to have the map tweaked. Trust me, it's cheaper than NOT doing so

hey buddy

ive got a Japspeed fmic on my classic (99) and i got 20.8bhp gain.

the map did need tweaking though, was surging at low revs and then over boosting at high revs.
