Well i did some 3 years ago and in my opinion its a much better turbo than the 35. Very similar spool as the 35 but more top end power and torque at a similar boost level.
Depends alot on what power your wanting?
Just be sure to get a genuine one

380 at a max, I also had an injector upgrade to 650's just be aware you may need to be spending on those as well
Dont know where the high revs bit comes in the post above> its not at all needed. mine spools up within around 200rpm of what my 35 used to

Most 18G's will not make more than max 360BHP on regular petrol. Mine (Deadbolt) made 290 at the hubs on a Rototest "RR" (using 98RON). I do not know how much that is in BHP. Anyways, I "upgraded" from a VF30 to a TD05H-18G on my 2002 STI and it did not give that much more power. Well, torque was actually improved quite a bit, I'll admit, but it does not last very long. As expected spool suffered a bit, and that's ok, but my 18G flatlines at 5500RPM and that gave me a unacceptable power band (3500-5500RPM). So all in all, I believe an 18G does not warrant the costs in relation to the power gained over a VF30/VF34/VF35. At least mine did not! But as llways, your milage may vary. And yes, I also upgraded quite a bit of other stuff to support the power (3" DP, 3" exhaust, injectors, air filter, fuel pump etc).
Depending on your power goals, a BB hybrid that actually has been proven, might be your best bet. E.g one based on a GT2871R/GT3071R (e.g. MD321H/T/SC46). Not sure about the new SC46 billet with the 10cm hot side and 60mm turbine though. It may be a little laggy if you have a 2.0L and no AVCS?! It all depends on your goals and what you think is acceptable. But I think SC have a special version for the 2.0L guys Rumors say it's a version with a smaller Garrett GT 56.5mm turbine instead of the full 60mm turbine, but don't take my word for it. Check with Scoobyclinic.
Also, Mark at Lateral is conducting test as we speak, and I guess it will not be long before a new and improved version of the MD321 range will arise
As for me, I am going to convert everything to twin scroll on my STI and my gospel at the moment is Litchfield LM450-S60

HI GUYS, IM NEW ON HERE BECAUSE IV BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH MY UK 300 FROM WHEN I BOUGHT IT...
I DONT RELLY KNOW HOW TO USE THIS SITE AND SAW THAT YOU GUYS SEEM TO KNOW WHAT YOUR ON ABOUT...
RIGHT WHERE TO START...
WHEN I GOT IT, IT HAD MAJOR PROBLEMS WITH THE ENGINE, MISSING ON POT 4 AND ALL SORTS OF PRESSURE PROBLEMS... FROM THAT I HAD A FULL RE-BUILD ON THE ENGINE AND HAD A DIAGNOSTIC DONE, THE ONLY CODE IT BROUGHT UP WAS FOR THE MAF SENSOR, SO IV JUST REPLACED THAT BUT IT JUST DOESNT GIVE ANY KIND OF POWER OUT AT ALL... IT FEELS ASIF THERE IS NO KICK IN THE TURBO BUT WAS THINKING MAYBE THATS DOWN TO THE ENGINE MANAGEMENT LIGHT STILL BEEN ON FROM THE MAF???
ONCE THAT IS CLEARED WILL IT BE OK OR DO YOU THINK THERE ARE FURTHER PROBLEMS?
ANY HELP AND ADVICE WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED..
