2 plug's under the steering wheel mate..right down with the pedals ..as you look up you'll see them...there's a procedure on this properly in the gen tech bit i think.

You dont need to plug it in to anything, you just need to connect the black plugs under the dash at your feet in the drivers side, connect theses and count the flashes the chech light gives and that will tell you the code.. ie 2 long and 3 short = 23, just post up what code it puts up and we will be able to narrow down the sensor thats failed/ing...

http://www.scoobypedia.co.uk/index.p...odeDefinitions
23.Mass Air Flow Sensor Circuit
24.Idle Control System Malfunction

but remember code 23 could be causing it to have code 24 or vise versa

I would say maf over idle control... maf's are the impreza's weak leg

Clean the idle control valve first, its your cheapest option, if that doesnt fix it then your looking at a few hundred quid for a maf sensor, if its not the maf then its more than a few hundred quid for a new icv, your best bet is a speciallist to diagnose your cars issue or you could be seriously out of pocket cash wise.

Rite guys cleaned the MAF and put back together still just the same, so any idea if there is a subaru dismanteler in edinburgh area, none of the local scrap yard have any impreza's in there yards, or if anyone has a one lying around we could come to some arrangement.

Cheers beeywrx
