Default Cheapest way to increase bhp 07 sti ppp

As the title says, I am looking to increase bhp and torque and would like advice on the cheapest and most effective way to do this. The car is an 2007 sti with a prodrive pack. I think it's 316bhp currently.
Thanks

i would recommend a remap, give you around 340 bhp and is the safest thing you can do. it costs around £350.

Would this increase the risk of the engine failing. Would a cold feed induction kit or differant exhaust be safer? Or are these engine problems associated more with the hatches.

you can decat a car and put on a cold air induction kit, but after these mods your car will need a remap or there is a chance it could blow up. the only real thing you can do at your stage and keep reliability is remap it via duncan or andy forrest etc.

What could I expect to gain in terms of bhp from the de cat? I take it I would have to cut the ppp exhaust up.

no cutting is involved, you just buy a aftermarket decat pipe and fit it instead of a cat that is already on the car. i wouldn't really make much of a difference in terms of bhp at your stage, it only really limits the car at around 380 bhp where at least a sports cat is needed.

You would be counter productive to remove the sports cat from your car, if you added a decat the gains are minimal (literally nothing in it), and you would need a remap.
Your best bet is a remap (open source or ecutek) on the ecu you have now, go for around 350bhp and 400lbs of torque, the 2.5 engine isnt very good in standard form and you need to be weary of what your doing.

The cheapest way to get more horsepower is the put it on a crap rolling road and ask for a bogus reading, easily done, then you can advertise it on ebay as 400 bhp...

LOL

dunx

P.S. Not all cars will spontaneous ignite if you swap the exhaust, but it won't utilise any mods fully till re-mapped.

It sounds like a re map is the way forward!
Would you advise upgrading specific engine coponants to improve reliability? Why are there so many bottom ends going?
What is the standard oil Subaru use for the sti? Fully synthetic 5w-40 or 10w40. As the car I'm buying the owner has done his own oil change and used 5-30.
What is general feeling about the tsl re map compaired to duncans? How do they differ?
Thanks guys

TSL now only sell parts on line..

A remap will as well as increase power and torque, but add crispness and extra throttle response and should gain better mpg.

A Dynamix remap would transform the car for a modest outlay, but also move to 10w40.

The remap price differences reflect the licence fees an Ecutek zap attracts (IRO £200 of the total £600).
Open source mapping is hourly the hourly cost of the mapper.

The 2.5 Sti engines have their own issues (head gaskets, piston damage) but bottom ends aren't one of them.

Bottom ends tend to go when exhaust mods made unmapped.

The 06/07 stis and wrxs NEED remapping for exhaust changes as they will overboost massively and cause huge problems.

As said a remap will get the best performance possible from the components on the car, whether that be 100% std or decated - they will all benefit hugely from it in bhp, torque and economy.

...And the all-important throttle response and general 'driveability'.
