STI6 broken down today
I had been driving the car(my00 sti ver6) all afternoon with no problems and not really on boost either(maybe once or twice) and i was going up a hill thrpough the gears and the ENGINE CHECK light came on and the engine was dead
I stopped straight away(obviously) and just tried to turn it over for a second to see what what happen. The engine made a sound but the starter motor wasnt even running so shut it off and got towed home
I have had a quick look to see if any fluids have drained or belts have snapped and it appears ok.
Any ideas what might have happened,i did notice the oil pressure was slightly low just before it happened(when idling) i only fitted my gauges last week or i would not have noticed this.Maybe its not related im not sure.
PLEASE HELP

You need to see what codes are being presented to you, either using the cables under the drivers side (at work and just logged in so search for how to read codes) or an odb reader.
Any other mods on the car?
(What is the oil level like?)

Mods are full decat with HKS silent HiPower,Walbro,Fuel press regulator and i am not sure what else the mods were done before i got it.
I changed the oil last week when i was fitting my gauges and i also topped it up before i left the house today because i only put 4litres in when i changed it.
I checked the oil at the side of the road and it was fine.

well cam sensor wouldnt stop it cranking thats for shaw
I dont like to say it but not pre-filling the filter CAN cause starvation at the bearings for a short time and lead to bearing failure normally after 30miles or so.
I do hope this isnt your problem but wouldnt rule it out, id suggest putting a socket on the crank pulley and check you can turn the engine over by hand

Very best scenario would be a new set of big-end shells and your crank lightly polished (NOT a regrind).
But if a big end shell has failed, you could have also damaged the associated crank journal beyond a polish i.e. you may need a new crank... Or dare I say it, regrind yours!
Please be advised, perceived wisdom dictates not to regrind Subaru cranks - many specialists don't recommend it. That said, it does seems to divide opinion, though.
But we're getting way ahead of ourselves here - your best bet would be to get an independent, and well respected, Subaru specialist to check the car out first (it could be that you have done no lasting damage, as you shut the engine off asap). Of course, the first outfit that immediately springs to mind, is API based near Leam. Spa, in Harbury. You could do a lot worse than to ring API Dave up for a no obligation, initial correspondence, then go from there...

as above all here is on the net diagnosis and its very difficult to do. it really needs looking at properly.it could be as simple as youve altered something while wiring your guages and the batteries not charging properly

I will need to get it looked at because after the lights and hazards were on for 10mins waiting to get picked up the windows were going down very slowly.I will try and turn the crank this morning and see what happens.

UPDATE I went out this morning and put both the green and black plugs together to reset ECU and the car is turning over but wont start,i am still getting the fault 13 (Camshaft Position sensor) so does this mean i havent got major mechanical problems?

Well there you go - replace that first (about £80 I think from ICP).
Yes it reads the first few revs of the camshaft, and when it detects the camshaft is indeed spinning, starting duties then get relayed over to the crank sensor (to tell the ECU to fire the plugs and inject fuel).
So if the cam sensor is FUBAR, then it simply won't allow the engine to fire (as it can't relay any info back to the ECU...)

Put it this way, the diagnosis certainly fits well with your experience/fault code.
Why not try disconnecting the cam sensor first, clean it up and its mounting surface, then reconnecting? Wiggle the wire a bit, etc.? Then try to start again (you may have to reset ECU first). If no luck, then you have lost nothing.
Thing is if you did do that and it did start, you prob wouldn't be very confident of its future reliability, anyway!
But at least that scenario would tell you that it was indeed the problem, so you can then order a replacement with relative confidence...
