The AA have been at it for an hour and cant get it going either, there is no spark at all caused by the Camshaft position sensor he thinks. The guy thought if he could reset the fault code it may go away because of the new sensor, how would i do that?

Sorry to hear that - damn!

If you're not getting spark, then that would now indicate crank sensor not working!

When you changed the batt, presumably it was swapped quickly? If yes, then you can either reset the ECU by disconnecting batt. for 1/2h or so... or do it correctly using the connectors under steering column (see Scoobypedia's ECU section for the procedure...)

Try the ECU reset first, before condemning anything else...

I am still getting the fault code for the cam sensor and not the crank one though?

I will try and reset the ECU first

No djandyg, just one cam sensor... Cited on top of the block, over the passenger side top camshaft.

The crank sensor is cited centrally on the top of the block, obviously inline with the crank.

I guess just as a double check it would be worth taking the n/s cam cover off(very easy to do) Just to confirm the cam is going round when your cranking ,as if its not there wont be a signal from the sensor

Cripes! Roughly what rpm do you reckon you were doing when you first heard the noise and shut the engine off?

You have been very unlucky - Subaru belts NOT got a rep for snapping.

You could be okay. It happened to my mate in his '87 Cavalier SRi lol 2 decades ago. No damage to valves or pistons occurred.

I cant believe how you didnt realise the belt was broken when turning it over. They sound totally diffrent and it turns so freely, but hey ye live and learn, you'll know what it sounds like if it happens again..
