another steam thread sorry
Sorry for putting another steam related thread but im really confused now. I've just been out to the gym when I got there there was a small amount of steam coming put of the passenger side coming out someone near where the washer bottle. The smell however this time isnt coolant just really smellless. On the way there I had the demisters on.
On the way home I left the demisters off and nothing out of the engine bay when I arrived home. Could it be something to do with the air conditioning?
I've just changed the radiator hoses a few weeks ago as one of them had a split not sure if this has anything to do with the problem.
Sorry about the essay but im just suck now.
Thanks

If any water/moisture get onto the wrap it can cause steam as it burns off.
Have you got the undertray still on the car?
If you haven't and you went through a puddle that could have splashed some water up onto the headers.

as you've said you changed the hoses a while ago, did you bleed the system bk up?? has the car not over heated? im guessing its an air lock and its causing it to fill the overflow tank near the washer bottle?

Situated near the washer bottle is the coolant overflow tank and it's filler. When was the last time you checked the coolant level, cold, in both it and your main coolant tank, (it has a meatal cap and sits on top of the engine, driver's side).?
If you have lost some coolant, or not filled up properly, it may be possible to have not enough water in and some steam to escape from the header tank, via the overflow.
