Default Help with fault codes

Hi,

I have, I promise, searched and searched but still haven't come up with a definitive answer.

I just bought my MY95 WRX GC8 and connected the black connectors under the dash to check for fault codes. The Light flashes 2 long (maybe 1 or 1.5 seconds and one very quick flash before repeating itself.

I can't work out if this is fault code 21, or as Splitpin wrote "on/off/on/off OK" message. I know fault code 21 is coolant temp sensor?

Can anyone help me out on this?

Thanks guys, the site has already helped me more than you'd know!

As you can see the on/off message evenly flashes, I suspect yours is code 21,if in doubt see if your phone or digi camera can take a short film of it and post it on here.

With the coolant temp sensor going normally you get fluctuating idle, poor cold start and the fans being on continuously (sometimes all 3 symptoms, sometimes just 1 or 2)

Great cheers.

Yup, got fluctuating idle, no problem with the fans and starts fine in the cold.

At least that means I can rule out the idle control valve for the moment. Just to get the bloody horn sorted haha.

Now, off to find out where this coolant temp sensor is located!!! Cheers guys!

It's in the block by cylinder 3 and is orangey/brown,easy enough to see if you move a bit of pipework last time it cost me about £25 for the sensor and 20 mins of cursing and swearing
