piston slap???
as the engine warms up the bearings expand a fraction thus no noise, you have two heads on the engine one either side, get a bar and compare the noises,
piston slap is usually most audible when opening the throttle and goes as the throttle is closed and the engine decellerates. That noise seemed to be there irrespective. You need to let a technician with Subaru experience have a listen.

Si, what year car is it?
97/98 phase 1.5 engines were notorious for piston slap (number 3 i think) as there was an issue with design or something, happened on all the turbo models (except the 22b).
Normally more common with forged pistons as they take longer to warm up and expand.
