Air lock mate, easy to do, take headers cap off, check levels, then run car with cap still off, wait til you see bubbles. this is the air escaping. put cap back on, go for a spin, then let it cool down and check levels again.

1. Top up header and expansion tank to correct level.
2. Put heater to full hot.
3. Start engine and leave ticking over.
4. Check the fans are coming in before the needle on the temperature guage starts to rise beyond the normal mark.
Cars with aircon will have two fans and one will operate with the aircon on in any case.
Your fans should be cutting in to pull air through the radiator when the temperature reaches 92-94 C.
Get to the bottom of the problem before you start throwing money at it.
Although we live in an area with good water we do have to replace radiators from time to time as they are furred up so I guess you guys that live where there is a lot of solids in the water like chalk will have to replace radiators far more frequently.
