tips on cleaning engine bay...do's + dont's?
after seeing countless pictures of peoples imaculate engine bays, i want to attempt to get my looking clean, as its really letting the car down.
not overly kean on taking it to the local car wash place and letting them jet wash it...
anyone got any tips...some places offer steam cleaning, but from the looks of it, they just use a jet washer, and i dont want to have techincal problems with the car.
thanks, rez

Don't take a Jet washer/steam cleaner to the bay !
Ive used this product before to remove the built up dirt, grease and general crud etc.
http://www.3inone.com/products/cleaner-degreaser/ and then gently hosed it off, avoiding the alternator, induction kit etc.
Then some WD40/GT85 penetrating oil and plenty of clean soft rags to remove all the remaining dirt and get things clean, by hand.
It takes a while, but you should be able to make a noticeable improvement for just a few hours work.

It will take for ever and it will never end if it's got years of grease and dirt. I tried doing this but i realised it's too late after 10 years of grease and dirt ha. You would have to pull the engine out for proper results i feel.
