Default Help Clutch probs

guys help., my clutch pedal sticks and i have to pull back up with my foot, also its crunching in 4th and 5th sometimes, i heard this might be a slave problem however would this make it crunch? maybe could it be needing a new clutch or is it the gearbox?

regards,
Dan

have you checked your fluid level or noticed any leaks on the driveway etc?

Sounds like the master or slave cylinder but as willsy369 says.

Don't think bleeding the brakes will make a difference, you can try bleeding the clutch though. Both run off the same resevoir as far am i'm aware.

Not to sure buddy, it's the cheapest option though! Slave cylinder requires the gear box to come off and as for the master cylinder, i'm guessing that's fine if your brakes are working.

I wouldn't so much much think it was the master as i assume your brakes work, but if the pedal doesn't come up then sounds like it could be the slave. But i would bleed the clutch and see what happens.

Or could be the clutch.

I just read this:

"Someone explained the "Clutch test" to me like this. It actually worked.

Release the parking brake.

Put car in first gear

Step on brake

Start to release clutch pedal slowly.

If car does not die by the time your clutch is fully released, guess what? Xedy here you come.

I did this when my clutch was going, and yes, it was gone.

You can do it either with brake or emergency brake, you choose. "

If you need a new clutch though it's an idea to replace the slave at the same time too.
I'm tempted myself if my clutch went to do the fly wheel also, a lot of work to have the slave/fly wheel to go after you replace the clutch ha.

right guys, just checked that and the car stalled so im assuming that the clutch is fine... if it is the slave and the gearbox needs to come off anyway.. i might aswell replace the clutch aswell i take it..

The slave is on the Outside on these cars its not a Concentric slave cylinder, so you can replace without removing box

what age scooby you got mate as the clutch and brake master cylinder have got seperate fluids tanks?look inside the car to see if the foam wading is wet were the clutch rod comes through the bulk head and connects onto the clutch pedal,if so then its the master thats gone.

yes seperate tanks mate,it would be grinding as the clutch isn't being pushed as far through its stroke to disengage the friction plate meaning its still rotating the gearbox hence gear can't engage properly.
When the pedal sticks down can you push the gear lever in and out of the gears mate?

defo mate as its a pull type clutch and the cylinder is mounted right under the intercooler on top of the gearbox, just take off the intercooler and its held on with 2 14mm headed bolts.
