5w30 or 10w40....
pretty simple question really, theyre seems to be so much discussion of different oils on this site it hard to get a straight answer lol...
Car is a pretty much standard 2003 WRX blob. Should i go for some 5w30 or 10w40. Doesnt do huge amounts of miles but i like to enjoy it i between driving to work. Will be replaced with a fully synthetic oil.
Regards,
Andy

my car is the same yeah and same mileage. in the summer i use 10/40 because of the weather being hotter. and now my car was ready for another oil change, i've now put 5/30 in it for the winter. i think next i'll stick with 10/40 next time. there's only about 10psi different in oil pressure when its hot

Shell Helix Ultra 5W-40 is very thin at operating temp, almost a 30 weight.
OOPS! Am I exposing my analocity?????
Go for a semi-synthetic 10W-40. Valvoline oils are very trustworthy, but Liqui-Moly, Mobil, Castrol...will do too.
Semi synth? Yep, based on the info you have given here.
