Default Exhaust to quiet which way to go

Hi all i have fitted a decat down pipe to my classic wrx 1995 and it is still quiet. I took it in for some tyres and when the guy was putting it on the ramp i thought you cant here it. Now i dont want it to be load but to be able to here the burrble would be nice. The decat is 3inch to 2.5 inch where it meets the middle pipe. Middle pipe is a powerflow one (looks new as well)and then the backbox is a sti one. would getting a new backbox help or getting a straight through middle section. I have thought about getting a straight through cat back system and putting the cat pipe back on but would this just be the same. Cant afford a remap so dont want to go straight through with no cats/silencers
Thanks Neil

Forgot to say i am not after extra power just the burrble

Most of the noise is determined by which back box you want, So stick with a well made one and you wont go far wrong.

i had a centre pipe without a resonator along with a decat downpipe on my classic and the cabin drone was awful. I would stick to a centre pipe that has a resonator and change your back box for something like the Ninja sold by scoobyworld.

I have seen a couple of magnex(think thats how you spell it) are they any good also Ninja. Heard a lot of people changing back from blitz nur spec so may be a bit loud. Had a full decat on the Evo and had a constant headache.

Yeah If you want it really loud go for the full blitz nur spec system, I had this on my last impreza and it used to set off car alarms and i had to have the stereo on vol 25 to hear it. I also had a parrot handsfree kit fitted which was also a waste of time (Couldnt hear anything). I did like it at the time but it was no doubt too loud especially on a long run. The police dont like it very much either

Hayward and Scott system is very very nice for the rumble (Not too loud until turbo comes in and all hell breaks loose )

Hope you get something your happy with

Oh and you shouldnt necessarily need a remap on a classic. My one with the blitz had no remap and she ran well with no problems at all. You may also want to fit a performance panel filter or an induction kit aswell if you havent already done so.

Rather than remap you can find a z4 mines ecu or one with a polar performance chip installed for around £80 (On here or ebay all the time). These are normally mapped for having no cats and perfomance induction. This would ensure the cars fuelling is correct.

Thumbs up

+1 for the Hayward and Scott a.k.a. Scoobysport, had a full decat (open neck DP, straight thru centre and backbox) on my old classic, beautiful burble when pottering around, but give it large and could set off alarms from about 10 metres away! the sound...

i had the sti back box on mine and i had hardly no rumble at all. put on an afterburner vortex and everything soon changed. loud burble, not too drony on the motorway, can be sometimes. good all rounder really.

Afterburner is a good loud system which is why the people who make it say: not for normal road use, scoobysport, Haywood & Scott , hks, racebox, are just a few that you might find to be what your looking for IMHO

Are you referring to the afterburner or the original look H&S exhaust here?

I have a 2.5xt Forester and want the burble but dont want to frighten to dog on long trips to devon!
