Default Servicing stress!

Hi guys Im about to give my classic sti its first service sinc I bought it a couple of months ago. Here is a list of things Im going to replace:
  • Run redex through it then use a can of engine flush
  • Engine oil
  • Oil filter
  • Sump gasket
  • Rocker cover gasket
  • Replace v1 powersteering pump with v3 pump
  • Timing belt
  • Fan belt
  • Spark plugs (iridium?)
  • Diff oil
  • Gearbox oil
  • Coolant
  • Fuel filter
  • Panel air filter (blitz?)
Can anyone offer any advice on good replacement parts? I've heard silkolene oils were best, but i dont know what weight? I was also told the pink sti oil filters were best. What about plugs?

All advice appreciated, if anyone thinks there should be anything else I should do then please tell me.

I wouldn't bother with the Redex, and especially don't bother with the engine flush. That can easily do more harm than good.

Just take the old stuff out and fill with new. That'll do all the cleaning/flushing your engine needs. Also make sure you read up about pre-filling the filter and cranking the engine prior to start-up.

B13 is pretty much on the money. K&N or Green would be preferable to the Blitz filter, and I would add www.importcarparts.co.uk as a good source of competitively priced bits.

Incidentally, by "sump gasket", do you mean you're actually removing the sump from the engine, or are you referring to the sump plug sealing washer?

Just to reiterate Splitpins comment about engine flush. You should NOT use this in a turbo charged engine!

The sump itself does not have a gasket, it uses sealant, but I assume that you mean the sump plug gasket as your are carrying out a service, and if that is the case, then the Subaru part no: is 11126AA000

As for the rocker covers, the part no: you have been given for the rubber washers (13271AA071) is the number for the later phase II (Ej205/7) engine and are larger than the ones fitted to yours. If used, most would seal correctly, but there are a couple of places where the recess in the cam cover is not quite large enough to accept the washer and it would foul the sides of the recess and probably not seat correctly. The number you need for the smaller washer is 13271AA051.

no fan belt, you mean power steering belt and compressor belt.
never use engine flush in a subaru engine. you could be one of the unlucky ones and damage the engine.
as above there is no sump gasket, you must use liquid gasket.
for gearbox and diff use castrol syntrax driveline.
dont use a organic coolant. comma blue is fine. use a genuine oil filter from stealers.

May I ask why you shouldn't use a engine flush. In past my garage have dropped the oil and used a engine flush.

But if it's a big no no I will ask them not to do it. I just need to know the reasons why so I can explain to them.

Is it something to do with removing all the stuff which is helping to stop oil leaks?

Also is these spark plugs NGK PFR6B be ok for a classic MY99 TI

Anyone got any clues as to where to get a v3 powersteering pump from, good second hand 1 or a cheap re-conned one?
