Default o2 sensor

Have had the check engine light come on a few times intermitently.

Just read the code using an online guide. And it reads o2 sensor.

What next?

Is this part of the MAF or is it a totaly different sensor? If so where is it located?

The car is a 95 wrx wagon (import)

O2/lambda is located in the drivers side exhaust manifold/header, laying on your back under the front (drivers side) you will plainly see the sensor

If your needing a new one then the Bosch LS02 is the job

edit: Don't be tempted (as i and others have been) by the ebay universal jobbies, mine lasted less than 100 miles

Spot the difference:

After closer inspection my sensor doesnt have two black wires and one white one.

It has a long heatsheilded wire that goes to a connector with one black and one red and green wire.

Does anyone know the part number for this?

You sure your looking at the lambda in the exhaust manifold and not the EGT sensor in the down pipe

Yes I was looking at the wrong thing.

However, my sensor has 1 black wire, 1 white and 1 red.

Spoke to the guy who supplied the one I got, he says that my car must be fitted with a titanium manifold??

That's ok, the black is the signal and that goes to the black on the sensor. The red and white are the heater + and -, it does not matter which way round you wire these two.

As a quick check, if you trace the loom back to the connector in the engine bay, the signal wire will/should have a gold/bronze coloured tip
