Default Gc8 sti cats.

Hi folks i was just wandering if my car has got 2 cats fitted, it still has the standard sti exhaust fitted and im know it has a cat in the downpipe coming off the turbos, but i was wondering does the centre section have a cat fitted or is it a silencer??

p.s MY97 Gc8 Sti Ver: 3

if its like my import then it will be a resonator only.

ok mate i wanted to decat the exhaust system but keep the sti back box, i prefur the original look of the car, yes i do have a import could i just decat the downpipe then and keep the rest of original exhaust fitted?

It's a resonator box in the centre section.

What bhp do you intend to run?

im not really after upping the power, i think the car is fast enough its a road car not a track car, im just after a decat because i believe the turbo spins up quicker, i wanna change the downpipe and the downpipe only.

if you get rid of the downpipe you will be left with no cat and come mot time it will fail unless you put it back on.

Be careful with possible overboost spiking if you're gonna do that.

Prob worth getting AFR's checked over afterward in a dyno session, just to be sure...
