I haven't fitted one but depending on size I would want it fitted behind the nearside fog cover and open up the slit a bit (ooh err)
I have seen them mounted where the tmic goes if you have gone fmic.

Not the question you asked Harry, but it's a pertinent one in any case: Are you regularly seeing oil temps over 120-130 celsius or so? If not, your engine will almost certainly be better off and will last longer if you don't fit a cooler.

I want to get one fitted before i head out on track as i've seen temps shoot up to circa 120 very quickly at the power im running (460/412), i'd like to keep the temps closer to stock levels if possible, i'll be fitting a 19 row mocal cooler with a thermostatic sandwich plate (high temp 95 degrees version) it is a large cooler that i'll trial fit at an angle behind the bumper on the n/s later today. I'll get some pics up once i've got it mounted.

If you have a thermostatic sandwich plate it will only work when it needs to.
So wont make any engine last less time.
Tho if you dont have a thermostatic plate.... why?!?! And that might cause long term issues!

Mounted the Mocal 19 row oil cooler this morning, i plan to run the pipework around the back of the sump away from the headers.
Where did you guys order your pipework from? I need a 57" and 67" 1/2"bsp pipe with a 90 degrees end at one end of each pipe. Also what thermostat are you guys running, 80 or 95 degrees?

If you have as FMIC, You can mount it right under the scoob, where you TMIC used to be, very popular way of modding in SG

Neat. Good looking installation. Too late now but you need to keep your oil pipelines as short as possible. When you start your car and until you are happy with the installation, keep an eye on the oil pressure during start up and how it compares with what you had previously.

Neat. Good looking installation. Too late now but you need to keep your oil pipelines as short as possible. When you start your car and until you are happy with the installation, keep an eye on the oil pressure during start up and how it compares with what you had previously.
I bought it on ebay some time last year, cant remember what i paid for it but im sure it was around £65 just for the 19 row Mocal core.

Where you have it looks good to me as long as it gets good air flow. The very fact that you increase oil capacity already reduces oil temperatures. The best position for an oil cooler is facing the air flow if you really need a big temperature reduction so that puts it at the front of the engine bay in front of the water radiator and possibly FMIC.
The next consideration is a relatively short oil feed pipe run so the driver's side may be preferable to the passenger side.
I think that oil coolers in place of the TMIC look ugly and result in long pipe runs.

I am surprised you can save as much pipe run but that is important in my experience on several counts. Personally I think that installing the oil cooler in the first place will result in a natural temperature reduction simply because of the volume and if you are operating with a thermostat I would not want it opening until you had 95 degrees. For all modern fully synthetic oils 80 degrees is too low.
