Is that a paddle clutch? If so I would have a re-think for road use. 20g for £350, secondhand I assume?

good luck with that one. i would budget another £2.5K for a 6 speed or else it will spend more time off the road than on the road.

2005 hawkeye 5 speed will require changing the front driveshafts, clutch and flywheel assembly, clutch slave cylinder, rear diff, along with rear driveshafts depending on what sort you have on the back of your car.

It still a 2.1 to build an actual 2.2 you would need a longer stroke crank (83mm iirc) or bore the block to 97mm. Easier but more expensive option would be use a 22b or the EJ22T block.

and make it a 2.33 - 2.4 depending on piston dish size. Price and severe lack of EJ22 CDB make these builds the exception rather than the norm.

Thats interesting as its been a question mark over my car since i bought it.
It said 2.2 on the advert.
I have the build recept that come with the car by autosportif.
Its says 2.2L short engine build.
2nd hand sti8 block...machine,fit liner and rebore to 92.5mm
set of omega 92.5mm piston c/w rings.
steel set of conrods.
uprated big end bareings inc mod to con rods.
set of main bareings.
2.5L billet long stroke crankshaft.
baffel sump
etc etc.
Now some folks have told me this is just a 2.1 as 92.5 is the measurment of pistons for one.
Others have said the its a 2.2 as the 2.5 crankshaft gives you the other 100cc.
Can anyone conferm once and for all please?

79mm * 92.5mm will give you about 2123cc so it is a 2.1 not 2.2 hth

Standard block, you would not need to line a 2.2 block to go to 2.33/2.4 as using the 79mm crank and standard 97mm pistons gives you the the desired capacity

bearing in mind do these block not tend to get used for big power? wouldn't gettting the block lined not help the strengthening process? i appreciate that getting lined and modified will not change the capacity but will surely add a margin of safety.

According to Andy F over on 22b the EJ22T will handle about 650 lbft of torque before you need to think about relinering it to improve strength. Car on 22b using said block running a 2.35 with a billet GT35R made 701/600 on race fuel.
