Coolant temp sensor, located on the water crossover pipe that runs under the inlet manifold.

It controls the amount of fuel required on cold start etc, when they start to go too much fuel can be sent and basically floods the engine.

the uk loom only has one conector from the loom to the engine .the jap one has 3 connectors from the loom to engine so i had to rewire the 3 wire loom into one plug to fit the uk engine

So your ECU is programmed for CoilPacks and you are now running ignition coil and HT Leads... surely this is your problem?!

Why didnt you just use the JDM loom, you created alot of work for yourself here and drama,s with it by the sounds of it.

The loom comes of the engine, loom is a loom engine is an engine. What was wrong with the original engine you removed? What year is the UK engine you have fitted now?

Providing it was wired correctly that would not be a problem, many convert the early cars to wasted spark.

The easy way to have done this would have been to remove the engine loom of the old engine with inlet etc and fit it to the new UK engine, that would have saved you any wiring at all.

Its very hard to diagnose faults online more so in this case, i cant help but think its something you have done with the wiring that is causing the problem.

If you still have the old loom etc i would retro fit to the engine and see how you go from there.
