Ford Ranger
The opportunity has come around at work to get a Ford Ranger (or any pick up but I like the look of the new ranger) instead of a Berlingo van, with me just paying the extra hire cost for the ranger?
What are people's views on the ranger? anyone had one?
I also in a purchased a mondeo st200 back in October which I really enjoy and don't really want to get rid of, so I could get the Berlingo and keep the ST for the weekends (Current situation) or get a pick up at an extra cost (around 100 pounds per month) which in turn I will probs end up getting rid of the ST?
This may seem a bit of a no brainer, get a brand new truck! However bear in mind I will be locked into the truck for 4 years, and will a truck satisfy my "driving" needs?

I bought a new Transit Connect van recently, but whilst I waited for various bits to be added at the dealer they gave me a new Ranger for a week.
Now, I've had 2 new shape L200's over the last 6 years so know how pick-ups drive.
The Ranger was appalling.
Was wallowing all over the place, uncomfortable seats and a very sluggish engine.
The one I had had a rear top fitted - the tailgate opening was tiny - I could hardly get in.
And the tailgate itself, when down, is too high (and I'm 6' 3")
If I were you, I'd get over to a dealer and have a long drive of one, preferably over the roads you'd normally drive.

Oh dear, doesn't sound good. I'm going to go to my local lookers tomorrow and have a test drive, but looks like I might be going for a van in the end.

Yep the d max was a very well kept secret, Isuzu in general aren't popular, but I drove every 4x4 toyota, mitsubishi, ford, nissan, landrover, was headed for the toyota and the owner of the garage made me take a trooper out, which at the time was not on my radar and I didn't really want, came back 5 mins later and bought it, I have had it for 8yrs now and i'll keep it till it dies.

the brand new ranger looks lovely, I test drove two the wildtrack and the Limited, The limited was my favorite more grown up the wildtrack was a boys toy. The only comment I can make was the gearbox didnt feel great bit hard to find gears but sure i would get used to it, the rest if it was lovely! So much so I have a blue Limited coming in April as my next company vehicle for my printing company.
I did hear MPG isnt going to be great but I do about 10000 miles a year and the company will pay the fuel so not worried about that either.

Dibbley, yes I totally agree wth you. Did you go to lookers in severals business park? I did enjoy driving the truck, I'm just working out if I actually need a truck as having a van would be free and still tick all the boxes. Van = free (can afford to run a weekend car) truck = £200 a month (no need to have a weekend car) what to do?

I was doing it for Tax reasons, My business is doing really well at the moment and is continuing to grow so why not have something cool that is also practical and can be used daily
