Default Fuel gauge marks in litres??

Managed to get my WRX on the road, and filled her up.

My question do the marks on the gauge have any relation to litres in the tank??

As the gauge doesn`t look to be 1/4, 1/2, 3/4 etc, or are they exactly that?? lol.

If I`m being an idiot sorry, but just trying to under stand what the guage is trying to tell me.

Chances are the shape of the tank makes the drain non- linear. That would be why the marks are not spaced equally. Just my theory.

But the shape of the tank isnt exactly a cube, the tank has round corners, i think the marks on the gauge will show how many litres are in the tank thats why there not evenly spaced apart.

But the top of the tank is wide the bottom is narrow, so there would be some difference in the volume as the level got lower. Most petrol tanks aren`t square, and have bumps and lumps. And even then its still possible to have a proper gauge.

Say 50 litre tank.
50 litres is full.
37.5 is 3/4
25 litres 1/2.
12.5 is 1/4
5 litres red line.

The Gauge doesn`t show that at all.

TIP: Regard the "1/4" mark (even though its not spaced evenly lol) as Empty! The fuelling can run lean when hooning round corners with less than 1/4 tank - and curtains, dead engine....
