Default Mines ECU

Well, just had a look at my ECU and found its a Mines type No7765.
Am I right in thinking to find how this is mapped I will have to send away to find its records. Its fitted to a 1992 wrx Import.

I don't think it's mappable.

It's effectively a overiding chip.

It was intended for the Jap market and as such is believed to be have a map running aggressive ign timing and for a fuel with a high octane rating (prob 100 RON!).

If you intened to continue running it, I'd use V-Power, or Tesco Momentum 99, with a third of a bottle of NF, per fill up i.e. = c.101 RON.

Mines ECU's were quite good on GTR's, haven't the knowledge on Subaru's. Will open it up later and see if it has the ability for mapping. I assume it will need a daughter board it is mappable. I intend to get the WRX to 320 ish, so I suppose its not going to do what I need.

Well, for safety, if nothing else, it's better to get a tailored custom remap on ESL Live or Apexi or Simtek, etc.

The 93-96 380cc injectors and small TMIC will limit you to around 280 (290-300 at best and if very 'lucky'!).

If you fit 440cc inj and a better IC then you'll make 320+ (dependent on IC choice), after the remap.

Your TD05H 16g turbo (assuming a saloon) is actually good for up to c.350bhp! If you wanted to realise that potential, then you'd ideally need to fit 550cc inj and a Hybrid GT Spec/Spec2 FMIC, then the remap...

I thought all Imports had 440's in ?. The chap that did the heads says it has the bigger injectors. I am def going down the front mount route, after that , do see me doing much. Gearbox is the weakest link I expect. It had a new one fitted along with a new rear dif in 2007.

92-96 wrxs only have 380cc injectors as standard, the colour of them may indicate if it does have different injectors though.
U8 is an early wrx ecu.
MINES seem to be very secretive about their maps and as far as i know you have to send them back to Japan unless anyone on the GTR forums can.

Hi
I have just been messing with my WRX 1994 Import Scooby and it has a Mines ECU on it, I'm now wondering if this is why my CO is way too high on the emissions.... Going on whats been said above??

Can you take this ECu off and replace it with a standard one?
If so does anyone know which one is standard for my car. it is a 1994 WRX Import Turbo.

Cheers
Baz

You have a few choices for the ECU, and yes its a straight swap. UK ones to JDM's. UK will be mapped for UK fuel but at the cost of performance.

I have a Version 2 Import on a P reg, That is running a standard ECU. Would I be able to use this one??

If so can I just unplug them and swap them over, Or do they need programming?
Cheers

Version 1 & 2 four plug. U8 is the standard 240PS ECU, Z4 is the 260PS ECU. The lads on here will be able to tell you the UK numbers.

P reg ecu will be 3 plug iirc so will not fit the 1994 car as they are 4 plug.

U8,2C and W6 are 240ps
Z4 is 260ps (as mentioned) and they are all plug an play.

The other option is to see open up the ecu and actually see what is in it (unless you've already done that) as normally the J1 resistor has been cut to allow the extra chip to run the car,if it's still there you can reconnect it and the OE map will run the car not the Mines chip.

That's IF it's just an extra chipset
