MY97/98 (Sep 96 through to Aug 98) have the same style 3-plug ECU and the PFC will cover both MYs.

Does the PFC's silver sticker on the side read PFC-GC8 D-E (or something like that)? The important bit is "D-E"

Cheers for the reply,
It's definately a 3 pin but the code on the side says PFC-GC8DL (not DE)
I was just wondering if there would be any problems because it came from a JDM and I'll be fitting it to a UK spec?
Thanks
Paul

you need to change a couple of wires over to get it to run, the mapper will do this at time of mapping.

Don't know what that L means. But the fact it begins with a "D" is fine.

And also note my94wrx's post above re the the JDM<>UK compatibility...

EDIT: Ah, the L could mean L-Jetro which means it's the regular MAF-based one. (They also did a D-Jetro, which is a MAP-based one)

Indeed, you're correct. Shame they didn't though - love the idea of the PFC/Commander... but MAFless.

if it is the correct one, which i am not sure it is? it will need mapping to suite your car immediately even if its on the original base map it will be far to aggressive for your car, and if its been mapped specific to someone else's car when then anything could happen.

Yes it will fit, but don't fit it, let the mapper do it. The STI that the unit is for, and the base map is built around uses different injectors and MAF sensor.

Just let the mapper fit it on the day and you'll be fine.

Joz,
here's a photo, hopefully!!

I'll be putting all the mods on at the same time, turbo, exhaust, front mount, injectors, fuel pump, induction kit, power FC and the car will be off the road. I'm hoping to arrange a mapper to come over and finish her off once everything's together. I figured that once I change the injectors the car will be undriveable anyway?

Simon,
Here's a photo of the plugs

Would you maybe be up for a trip out to Switzerland towards the end of the year to map the car? there might be another wrx here to be done at the same time?

Excellent!! on both counts!!
I'll be in touch as soon as I have an idea of when the cars going to be ready for mapping.
Basel airport is 10 mins from my garage so it's real easy to get here from all London airports.
Thanks all for the replies!
