Default defi error

I have a defi bf boost gauge and control unit 2, the gauge currently does not work, The led flashes twice then a gap, this according to the d-link manual states a serial error, If I disconnect the plug that runs to the boost sensor under the bonnet the gauge gives an opening ceronomy followed by a continual flashing of led which means a disconnected cable. From this I am presuming there is a problem with the sensor or cable to it. Is there anyway to confirm this before I buy a new sensor and lead. Any advice welcomed. I think the cable is hardwired into the sensor so I have no way of checking the continuity of it without I break open the sensor.

Also, there is a SECOND connector on the boost gauge wiring, a larger one, make sure this is secure, not wet or corroded. You could also trace the wire and look for abrasion, cuts, nicks in it, even bad kinks, (which can cause breaks).
