Default NOT HAPPY!!!!

I need help and advise,

I have just purchased a 2002 wrx sti (ver 7) JDM

spec:

Roger Clark s/s manifold
Greddy clutch
Tein mono-flex coilover kit
VF34 turbo with gaskets
h/pressure fuel pump
Re-map - Steve Simpson Full Mongoose stainless system
Bailey dump valve

I have checked the ecu at its an V8 what ever that means,

My issue is I am not happy with the power output and Turbo lag through gear change,

I am getting 10mpg. (need to buy a shell garage)

What can I do, am I rite in saying my ECU is mappable, if so recommendations around the NW area,

I don't want to add any more performance parts for now, I just want the car to drive like a scoob. It is hard to explain without you guyz actually driving it, but to me it seem a mapping issue.

Sounds more like a mechanical issue to me.e,g, duff sensor.

With that kind of fuel consumption the fuel is either escaping or the car is massively over-fueling. You need to get the car to a specialist to get it checked out. Drive off boost till then.

Can't rule out mapping, but Steven Simpson is very well respected and certainly knows what he is doing!

From previouse owner I was told 350bhp,
Only on start up I get the smell of fuel, but driving it I get no smells.

contact Steve Simpson, he should have a copy of the map and will be able to tell you a bit more about your car...

Well after a long conversation with Steve, we think we have got to the bottom of the problem,

The car was mapped in June 09, since the remap, the Exhaust, RCM headers and fuel pump have been fitted and we think the car has not been re-mapped, well Steve has no records of it ever coming back,

On the last map the car was producing 316bhp and 335 torques.

So Steve and myself think the car defo requires another go on the rr and checking the statues.

The question his if it requires a re-map (probably it will) what sort of bhp should I be getting.

OK Tidgy, explan please, new to all this mapping stuff, so who's dyno should I use,
I am assured Mr Simpson is the man for re-mapping.

basicly figures vary from rolling road to rolling road, they can be calabrated to give what ever figures people want (i've seen 1.6gl's run 450bhp at RR days for the larf). i've some claims of 400bhp on a vf34, but i highly doubt them myself and so do alot of others.

around 340-350 is about the norm, you do get some odd ***** that might go to about 360 but anything more than that i;d start asking questions myself

Nice one, I will do more research on the matter, and yes I can understand the calibration side of things as I work in the rail industry so yes calibration can be chopped and changed to suit the application.

Reason being a dyno what you drive on is to measure wheel HP, it eastimates engine HP.

Is it sorted?

Without headers my V7 STI made 340 bhp. A good few years ago....

Don't worry about headline figures, its the way it drives that matters. Properly remapped your car should feel well lively.

Nice one guyz,
had the dump valve removed and had a open map done, car is much much better, only got 320 bhp and 340 fb/tq fuel has improved and the car is just more punchy,
