Nothing wrong with the 5w40 you ran it on, stick with it if you like it, it wasnt going to cause your headgasket to go

A 60 weight is far too thick though, you lose power due to it and it doesnt take the heat out of the engine as good as a 40 or 50, plus its more strain on the oil pump, if your car is very modified (500bhp say) then its good as the higher temps will mean it can handle them better but at the usual temps the other oils are much better.

Hi , i went into local car parts shop the other day , they recommended millers 10/60 they said all the local people with imprezas run on it , i was advised by them to ring millers tec department this is what was said over the phone , when your engine is cold all it looks for is the low number 10 , when the engine is hot all the engine is looking for is the high number , the reason its 60 not 50 is because some of the un burnt fuel ends up in the oil thinning the higher number , i have ended up putting it in my my 95 ra std engine that has done aprox 96 thousand miles its used for hill climbing and sprinting producing 300 ft/torque , on hot idle the oil pressure has gone up from 30 psi to 50 psi is this good or bad .
