what power from v5 sti
Hi all
What power in terms of BHP and Torque should i be getting around about from a v5 sti witha vf28 Hybrid FMIC and K&n Kit and a full decat exhaust coupled with a simtek ecu , as that is what i have and even though it feel rapid , it doesnt feel scary which is what i wanted!
Also it runns at 1.5 Bar , is that around about right?

Approx 320bhp with similar ft/lbs torque, turbo will be limiting factor & then injectors.
Safe boost IMO on a 12 year old VF28 would be around around 1.4 bar
Fitting a Vf34/5 & a 3 port boost solenoid & remap, may get you to around 360bhp.

360 BHP Mhhh sounds nice
how much would i be looking at in terms of money for a Vf34/5 (there not twin scroll are they) and a 3port boost solenoid .
My engine has only covered 42 K miles and that is guaranteed totally , would i be pushing the turbo if i started putting more pressure through it as i have been told they are very fragile to start off with
Also i have a slight fluctuation in boost from 1.4 to 1.5 Bar which does seem abit odd but it runs perfect
at 360 BHP would that mean a new gearbox?

just to compare..I have almost identical mods to you, although standard top mount...
mine is running 305bhp @ 1.4 bar
It seems the standard gearboxes dont like beyond 330bhp...all depends on how you drive of course

If you want to keep the car in one piece then dont go above 350bhp, thats the safety limit on the engine for reliability, and even then its pushing it, your better off with a nice 330bhp/320lbs of torque, that will make for a quick road car, wanting more power will cost you maga ££

i have the same car with 3" exhaust, fuel pump, headers, remap=333/310
it didnt last long before the engine let go and now im in the process of running in the rebuilt forged engine

why would the engine let go at 330 BHP
I thought the EJ207 STI engine had good strong internals
i would be led to believe that i am running between 320 and 330 as my mates sti never stands a chance against me at all!
my engine feels really strong and doesnt have any issues at all!
am i bein optimistic then?
