Exclamation CLASSIC'S TRIM PANEL REMOVAL/REFITTING...???

Can that bit of curved black plastic trim that sits between the rear edge of the rear window and the C-pillar, on a 4-door Classic, be easily removed and replaced with a fresher part?:-

...Or is it really a respray job in satin black that'd be required?

Ha. No mate - the paint (or whatever finish it is?) has half flaked away, leaving at least 50% silver underneath!

So I defo either need to spray it, or preferably replace it with a nicer panel... if possible, that is.

Anyone know if/how that panel comes off (if at all)?

If it's a panel, it'll come off. Have a look all round it, is there anything covering part of it? If so, there may be clips under.

If not, try lifting it with a scredriver, but put cloth under the bit against any paintwork

joz the whole trim comes off in one piece from a to c post, you would be better seeking one from a breaker which i did, if you do need to remove it, you need to pull the rubber seals down were the windows would sit when they are closed to expsoe the retaining screws and the behind the wider faded black part there are 2-3 white barbed panel clips retain it.

Right, so that bit ON IT'S OWN won't come off - it'll lift with it all the other black trim surround, as well?

I know some one who skinned them in CF, so they definitely come off.

Well that's another option of course - carbon fibre effect vinyl covering! I think I'll look into that...

yeah comes of with all the other trim, and to add to my earlier post, you may be able to remove by drilling out rivets, the rear section of trim if yo wished to paint it or wrap in carbon.

John, it's not vinyl it's carbon fibre, and he did it himself.

Link to his profile. Not sure how often Mark uses SN, but send him a PM if it's something you're interested in.

Oh, and iTrader feedback, nudge, nudge.
