Have just bought a r-reg 1997/98 import subaru impreza turbo and wondering how you tell the standard bhp of the car, without a dyno run??? no sti stickers but has the white 9000rpm rev counter and 180 clocks. is there a way of knowing this? vin number? ecu? etc. cheers

280ps (276bhp) was the official power figure (japanese gentlemans agreement with between the government and manufacturers) I believe but the only way to tell your specific bhp is to dyno run it.

I would expect 280-290bhp if the car's in good condition. Mine made 289bhp standard.

As said 280PS or 276bhp is the "official" figure.

In reality, when RR'd it'll prob be anywhere between 5% or so either side of that figure (unless the motor's shagged lol).
